The first test of the Indian tour to Australia has been over with a real humiliation for the Indian cricket team who looked very strong in the first innings. The Indian team outclassed Aussies was a treat to watch but retaliating kangaroos are always too hot to handle and are shown on the third day of the first match that also proved the last day. Fans were there to watch a healthy competition between bat and ball, and what they saw was completely inversely proportionated.
No doubt it was a traditional Adelaide wicket that supports bowlers with a lot of swing and bounce, and both teams had to bat on the same pitch. Team India’s top order trembled a bit in the first innings but Virat Kohli came there to rescue and with the help of Pujara and Rahane, he was able to avoid a batting collapse and team put a total of 244 on the board with Mitchel Starc taking 4 wickets, Pat Cummins took 3 while Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon shared one each. It was a reasonable total on a traditional Adelaide pitch which is known to be bowling friendly for ages.
Australian batsman started the innings in a slow passion; in the 15th over, Indian bowling ace, Jasprit Bumrah trapped Matthew Wade in front of his wickets to provide its team with an early breakthrough. After a very few minutes, Joe Burns went back to the pavilion after finding himself in front of wickets on a lethal delivery by Bumrah. To make a very long story short, Australian batting collapsed and managed to reach a total of 191 all out where Marnus Labuschagne struggled in the center for his 47, and the top scorer Tim Paine made 73 with the help of 10 fours. Ashwin’s magic worked once again for his side as he took 4 wickets while Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah shared 3, and 2 wickets respectively, Mohammed Shami remained wicketless.
The second innings brought the Indian team a chance to put Kangaroos under pressure as they are considered as the number 1 batting side in the world but when they came to the crease, they looked like the schoolboys in front of lethal Cummins and Hazlewood.
They had to bat for a few hours on the 2nd day but they lost Mayank Agarwal at the very start of the game that forced Indian management to send Jasprit Bumrah as a night watchman. Bumrah did his duty beautifully and didn’t get out in that phase of the game.
The third day started and it proved the worst day in the history of Indian cricket as they were bowled out for just 36 runs with none of their world-class batters entered the double figures. It became the lowest total ever for India in history while it was marked as the lowest total scored by any side in the world in the last 65 years.
2 Australian pacers, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins trashed the Indian batting lineup in just 20 overs; Pat Cummins took 4 wickets while Josh Hazlewood took a five-for. A target of 90 runs was there for Australia which was achieved in 19.5 overs.
Australia now leads the series 1-0, and now Virat Kohli will also leave the side which can increase the problems for the Indian team. They really have to work on certain aspects or they will never get back to the right track.
