This year’s Dream 11 IPL is all set to take place in UAE and the fans can’t control their wait for longer. The event will be held on three different venues that include Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Experts are predicting that this year it will be interesting to see how the players adjust to these conditions and especially the bowlers as the tracks seem to be spinner friendly.
According to Royal Challengers Bangalore coach Mike Hesson, “On certain grounds yes. It depends, like Abu Dhabi, seamers had played a big role there and probably (the pitch) doesn’t (offer) spin as much as the other two grounds (Dubai and Sharjah). It does skid. We need the ability to adjust to conditions on the day as well”. Grounds like Abu Dhabhi have big long boundaries and players will have to put extra muscle to the ball to take it that far and this will bring down the average totals in a match. “Here 150-160 will be good scores in some grounds and it will be different.” Hesson added.
The tracks are slow, and it will spin a lot and thus we look at some promising spinners that can turn the tides and be matchwinners for their respective sides:
- Rashid Khan: This youngster has already made himself a lot of name in IPL with 55 wickets in 46 IPL matches. His mystery spin will be even more dangerous on the turning tracks and can clean any batting line up on his day. Definitely a player to watch out for.
- Ravichandran Ashwin: With 125 wickets in 139 IPL matches, Ashwin is no doubt one of the most experienced players out there and can create a major upset in even the best batting ranks. Skiddy and turning tracks will be huge advantage for this off-spinner.
- Yuzvendra Chahal: Already a star on social media this leg-spinner has amazing ability to adapt in any given conditions. With spin friendly pitches Chahal will bring an extra edge to his skills and will be even more deadly and economical than ever before.
- Piyush Chawla: This amazing spinner has sustained in the cricket community solely on his extraordinary IPL performances with 150 wickets in his purse and being joint 3rd highest wicket taker in the history of the tournament. With MSD behind the stumps, Chawla will be a real threat for batsmen.
Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav, Imran Tahir, Amit Mishra, Rahul Chahar and a few more also have this amazing opportunity to succeed in the coming edition. Teams must have thought through this and should already have made their plans and tactics on how to utilize their spinners for the upcoming tournament. It sure is a spin-paradise here in UAE for Dream 11 IPL 2020.
All the teams have reached the venue and are already having their practice sessions. Several protocols and policies have been issued for the safety of players and the team staff. The matches will be played behind the closed doors and this will be a very new experience for the players as well. Let’s hope everything goes smooth and everyone is safe for the entirety of the tournament and the fans get to watch their favourite teams in action.
