Tonight’s clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils is a matchup between two teams that have done very well in the IPL 2017 so far. Sunrisers are third in the points table and Delhi Daredevils are fourth.
Sunrisers didn’t have a perfect time last week, having won one and lost two games. They beat Kings XI by five runs but lost to Knight Riders by 17 runs and to Mumbai Indians by four wickets
Delhi Daredevils lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets but have won against Punjab Kings XI by 51 runs and Rising Pune Supergiant by 97 runs.
It remains to be seen whether Delhi Daredevils play Corey Anderson or Angelo Mathews in this game. The New Zealand player won the Man-of-the-Match award the win against Kings XI Punjab with outstanding batting towards the end of the innings. However, Mathews is a better bowler and is said to have recovered from his illness. This could be an interesting selection for Rahul Dravid, the coach of Delhi Daredevils to make.
-For Daredevils, Sanju Samson has been the best player, having made tons of tons. Samson is very good against fast bowling and scored at a strike-rate of 176.05 against pace. But he has only made 48 runs off 47 balls against spinners.
This could be a great opportunity for the brilliant Sunrisers legspinner Rashid Khan. Khan versus Samson should be a great clash between two of the best young players in IPL 2017. We expect Khan to bowl early, well in the powerplay and it will be interesting to see how Samson handles him.
One likely change for the Delhi team is that Shahbaz Nadeem is likely to come back in place of Mohammed Shami to take advantage of the slow wicket in Hyderabad. Also, Karun Nair has done precious little after his triple hundred against England in the Test series. He might be dropped for this game; if not, this might well be his last chance to impress for a while.
