We have just had a long international break, but thankfully the English Premier League is back this Saturday. The transfer deadline for the summer expired just as the international break began, and there have been several signings by the top clubs. Many of these new signings may feature for their new teams this Saturday, and we discuss 10 of them, who we believe are the pick of the lot.
1. Radamel Falcao
Perhaps the most talented of all the new players to make their debut this Saturday, Falcao is a goal machine. He has scored tons of goals wherever he has played football – whether in South America, Spain, Portugal or France. Is he the man to turn around Manchester United’s season? Manager Louis Van Gaal needs every help that he can get.
2. Marcos Rojo
Another Louis Van Gaal signing, Rojo is a solid defensive player who can play centre-back as well as left-back. He is a permanent member of the World Cup 2014 finalists Argentina and is always known to give his 100% to every team he plays for.
3. Hatem Ben Arfa
Ben Arfa has had a serious falling out with the Newcastle United coach Alan Pardew which led to him being sidelined for a long time. He hopes to give his stunted EPL career a new boost by doing well for Hull City as their top loan signing. Ben Arfa is known to be one of the technically most accomplished players in the league.
4. Alex Song
West Ham have signed a defensive midfielder of the highest quality in Alex Song, who comes in as a loan signing from Spanish giants Barcelona. Sam Allardyce, the West Ham coach needs every help he can get in his battle against relegation.
5. Danny Welbeck
Arsene Wenger would be terribly pleased with his signing of Danny Welbeck from Manchester United, who has impressed one and all with his performance for England last week against Switzerland, where he scored both of England’s goals. His signing was a surprised as nobody expected such a talented, young Manchester United player to leave such a huge club.
6. Sandro
Sandro, the Brazilian defensive midfielder, was one of Tottenham Hotspur’s best players last season, but has been cast aside by the new Tottenham manager. His signing for 10 million pounds by QPR would be a great boost to the London club’s relegation battle, which has started so early in the season.
7. Luke Shaw
Shaw was signed by Louis Van Gaal before the start of the season, but was sidelined because of a serious injury. But he has since recovered, and the left-back is expected to make his debut for Manchester United finally this Saturday.
8. Daley Blind
Louis Van Gaal has been on a signing spree and there was no way he would leave behind his favourite player in the Dutch national team, Daley Blind. Blind is a great utility player and can play in several positions – left-back, right-back, defensive midfield or as a wing-back.
9. Ricky Alvarez
Sunderland coach Gus Poyet pulled off quite a coup by signing one of the best young attacking midfield players in the world in Argentina’s Ricky Alvarez on loan from Inter Milan. Alvarez is a classy player and will add quality to Sunderland’s fight to stave off relegation.
10. Abel Hernandez
Steve Bruce, the Hull City manager spent 10 million pounds to sign the tall, fast and powerful Uruguayan striker from Serie A side Palermo. This is one signing that may either save Hull City from relegation or cost Steve Bruce his job.
