The speculation surrounding whether or not Jermain Defoe will return to the Premier League was finally put to bet today.
It has been confirmed that the former Spurs hitman has signed on a permanent deal for Sunderland, putting pen to paper in a 3 and a half year deal.
Jermaine Defoe had actually played alongside his new manager when playing at Tottenham together, and has also been briefly managed by Poyet.
Events could get even more interesting for the 32 year old striker as he could potentially form part of the Sunderland line up when they play Tottenham at White Hart Lane this coming Saturday.
Defoe, is listed in 14th position in the all time Premier League goalscorer, carrying 124 goals spread across his time at Tottenham, Portsmouth and West Ham.
