The English Premier League is now in full swing, so we thought it a good time to give you some of our predictions for this weekend’s games. Kicking off with a powerhouse encounter between Chelsea v Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea Vs Arsenal
Chelsea have endured a torrid time this season, having suffered 3 defeats in their last four matches. This is by far the worst start Jose Mourinho has had as Chelsea manager. A majority of Chelsea players have underperformed, especially Cesc Fabregas , Eden Hazard and Diego Costa – Chelsea’s most important players. Arsene Wenger’s hatred for Mourinho is well known and he has never beaten Mourinho before in a competitive fixture. This could be his best chance yet. We are going for an Arsenal win here, but only just.
Prediction 0-1
Aston Villa Vs West Brom
Aston Villa have started very poorly this season and have a very leaky defense, which has let in 2 or more goals in each of their last 3 games. West Brom have done pretty well so far, picking up precious points away and that too without main striker Berahino, whose transfer to Tottenham Hotspur has failed. Behahino will be back for this match and that’s why we expect West Brom to have the edge in this Midlands derby.
Prediction 1-2
Bournemouth Vs Sunderland
Bournemouth and Sunderland are two teams that shall be battling to avoid relegation in this season. The Black Cats have had a horrible start to the season and are in the bottom three. There really isn’t much to choose between the two sides on current form, so expect a scoreless draw.
Prediction 1-1
Newcastle Vs Watford
Nothing seems to have changed at Newcastle – they struggled to win towards the last half of the previous season and are yet to win this season, having picked only 2 points from 5 games. None of the new players brought in by new manager Steve McLaren looks likely to turn things around for the Magpies. Perhaps this is the season they get relegated. Expect an away win for Watford and calls for McLaren to get sacked just a couple of months into the season.
Prediction 0-1
Stoke Vs Leicester
Leicester are the form team of the season and simply cannot stop winning. They are still undefeated and at no. 2 in the league table, just behind Manchester City. Stoke are a good team, they are playing at home, but have struggled lately. This is a hard match to predict. A high scoring draw, perhaps.
Prediction 2-2
Swansea Vs Everton
This promises to be an exciting match between two very good sides, with honest, hardworking and talented players (not superstars).Swansea City have started well, like they did last time. Everton beat Chelsea last week and are full of confidence. We expect a great game, with Swansea coming on top.
Prediction 2-1
Manchester City Vs West Ham
Manchester City have won all 5 matches so far and on current form, should go on to win the league. They face a tough opposition in West Ham, who have been rejuvenated under new manager Slaven Bilic. Expect an exciting match, with both sides preferring to attack than to defend. But Man City are too good to be beaten at home.
Prediction 3-1
Spurs Vs Crystal Palace
Tottenham finally won a match when they beat Sunderland last week, It has been a terrible start to manager Mauricio Pochettino and he will want to win this one desperately. But Crystal Palace under Alan Pardew are a really tough side to beat, that’s why a draw is in the offing here.
Prediction 1-1
Liverpool Vs Norwich
It’s been all downhill so far in this season for Liverpool and knives are already out for manager Brendan Rodgers. Patience is wearing out at Anfield, and a loss here against Norwich might signal the end of Rodgers tenure. Coutinho returns from suspension and Liverpool would go all out for a win against a mediocre Norwich side. And they should get it too, they are due one.
Prediction 2-0
Southampton Vs Manchester United
Manchester United no longer inspire the awe and fear that they used to under Sir Alex Ferguson and so quality mid-table sides like Southampton would fancy their chances against them. There will be no return for ex-Saints player Luke Shaw who is out for 6 months because of a horrible injury picked up in the Champions League. Rooney is a doubt for this game. Expect a Saints home win.
