There’s just no stopping Thomas Tuchel’s Borussia Dortmund. The Black & Yellows have bagged wins in all 11 of the new head coach’s fixtures in charge and currently top the Bundesliga table on goal difference from defending champions Bayern Munich.
Bayern successfully kept their own 100% league record intact on Saturday when running out convincing 3-0 winners at newly-promoted Darmstadt and now Pep Guardiola’s men face an intriguing test from Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena.
It’s often mentioned that since the Catalan arrived in Munich, the Bavarians have struggled against the Bundesliga’s leading lights. Last term FC Hollywood only W3-D3-L4 when taking on sixth-placed finishers and above and in 20 matches against the same opposition that record reads W11-D4-L5, including just one point from a possible 15.
It’s far from their usual imperious selves and should encourage Wolfsburg ahead of their visit. The Wolves have fared similarly under Dieter Hecking’s watch against top-six finishers with W10-D5-L11 but that return is heavily weighted towards their form at home. In road trips to the same opposition the Wolves have only W2-D3-L8.

So what do we make of Tuesday’s tussle? Both Teams To Score has been chalked up at 2.00 and that looks to be the best value bet on offer. It’s proven profitable in half of Bayern’s last 10 fixtures when hosting top-six clubs as they’ve kept just two clean sheets in those encounters. Meanwhile, Wolfsburg have delivered a whopping 10/13 BTTS winners from their away days at the same opposition.
Elsewhere, Hannover take on Stuttgart in an early relegation six-pointer. Gladbach’s dreadful start means neither side props up the Bundesliga table but their accumulative one point from a possible 30 is hardly anything to shout about.
Since the start of last season, these two clubs have suffered 40/78 (51%) defeats in league games and kept only 13 clean sheets between them. The duo will be desperate to put a first win on the board and I think that desperation could well lead to another goal-hungry game.
Hannover have seen 22/39 (56%) of matches feature both teams scoring with 21/39 (54%) also producing three goals or more. Taking their home fixtures only, 13/19 (69%) were profitable for Both Teams To Score punters and 10/19 (53%) also broke the Over 2.5 Goals barrier.
A quick peek at Stuttgart during the same timeframe shows similarly strong trends. VFB saw 22/39 (56%) successful BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals bets with their road results also producing 12/19 (63%) matches with at least three goals plundered and 14/19 (74%) featuring Both Teams To Score winners.
Over 2.5/3 Goals can be found at 1.90 and there’s plenty of appeal in those quotes. We’ll have ourselves a full win should the showdown produce four goals or more but if exactly three goals are scored, we’ll still pocket half of that potential full pay-out.
