It’s EPL time again! Week 6 was a lot of fun – Champions Chelsea came back to form last week with a controversial win over arch-rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, the current leaders, were stunned by high flying West Ham. Young Anthony Martial showed just how good he was by single-handedly winning an important match for Manchester United away at Southampton. What does Week 7 have in store for us? Let’s find out!
Tottenham Hotspurs Vs Manchester City
This is a tough game to predict because Spurs have just had a couple of back-to-back 1-0 wins and Manchester City, the league leaders, lost momentum by going down to West Ham. Man City do have it in them to bounce back with the likes of David Silva and Vincent Kompany coming back. For Spurs, last season’s biggest star Harry Kane is yet to find his groove. Otherwise, Spurs look a solid outfit with a great defense. We expect it to be all square at White Hart Lane. Spurs aren’t likely to be beaten at home.
Prediction 2-2
Leicester Vs Arsenal
Normally when these two sides meet, one would naturally expect Arsenal to be ahead in the league table, and by quite a distance. That’s not so this time, as Leicester are one spot higher than Arsenal and in the fourth position. Leicester had a torrid pre-season and were beset by several controversies that led to the removal of manager Nigel Pearson. Since then, the vastly underrated Claudio Ranieri has turned Leicester’s fortunes around and the wave of optimism around the club is for all to see. Can they beat Arsenal, who are down after having lost to Chelsea – again? Certainly. One suspects things aren’t great with Arsene Wenger than that should reflect on Arsenal’s performance. Home win for Leicester.
Prediction 2-1
Liverpool Vs Aston Villa
It is not a good time to be a Liverpool fan and it does seem that the supporters have already turned against the affable Brendan Rodgers. The fact that Rodgers’ men failed to capitalize on a 1-0 lead against Norwich last week at Anfield was the last straw for many fans. It can get even worse if Liverpool fail to win against an underperforming Aston Villa who are languishing in the 17th position. Christian Benteke would welcome the opportunity to take on his old club. A win for Liverpool, just because Villa are a poor side.
Prediction 2-0
Manchester United Vs Sunderland
This is one of the easiest matches to predict – an easy win for Manchester United as Sunderland have been quite terrible these season and deserve to be where they are – at the bottom of the league standings. If Sunderland manage to get any points at Old Trafford, that would be a footballing equivalent of Japan beating South Africa in the ongoing Rugby World Cup. We expect it to be a lot of fun for the faithful at Old Trafford with teenage sensation Anthony Martial getting a goal (or two) in his third successive match in the EPL.
Prediction 4-0
Newcastle Vs Chelsea
Newcastle United have been quite hopeless to be honest. They have scored just two goals all season, picked up just two points and never looked anywhere close to winning a match. Last week’s defeat at home to the recently promoted Watford was a new low. It’s a terrible time to be a Newcastle fan as you don’t know where your next win is coming from. It’s certainly not going to come against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea. We don’t even expect Newcastle to put up a fight on match day. One of the easiest 3-0 wins for Chelsea.
